A (very) short history.
As we get started blogging, here is a super short history on when our herds were established. Llamas first appeared in the pastures at WoodsEdge in 1984. They were added to the flock of 150 sheep as guardians to protect them from predators (sheep are no longer raised on the farm, but a fun story might pop up in the future about the history of them). In 1989, we were part of the importations of alpacas from South America in to the U.S, making WoodsEdge the first alpaca farm in New Jersey.
All produce fiber which is used in our 'From Field to Fashion' and 'From Our Herd to Your Home' product lines. The yak are a duel use as they are also processed for meat. Stay tuned for more fun facts and features about our fiber producing livestock!
